1920s: Retro is in this year and the 1920s is the decade brides will be most inspired by. Embrace the trend by indulging your inner flapper in a sleek, beaded gown, then try a Great Gatsby theme — complete with fringed chandeliers, Art Deco invites and a black-tie dress code (think top hats for the groomsmen!).

Prints: Prints have been creeping onto the scene for a while now, but in 2013 prints will be everywhere. Expect to see lots of pretty patterns on bridesmaid dresses and wedding decor like cakes and table runners. Florals were particularly popular this year–Lian Carlo, Pat Kerr and Rivini all used them in their collections. Chevron will also continue to be big.

Laser cut: Love the look lace, but not that it sometimes feels dated? Then this year’s laser cut trend is for you. The designs are reminiscent of lace, but the effect is more edgy and modern. Elizabeth Filmore, THEIA and Ivy & Astor all had dresses using laser cut.

Top Buns: Once upon a time, the french twist was the go-to bridal hairstyle. These days, however, it’s all about the super versatile top bun. It’s eye-catching enough to stand on its own, but it also lends itself to delicate veils and headpieces

Intense Color: Red wedding dresses were the talk of Vera Wang‘s Spring 2013 collection, so expect more and more brides to veer away from white dresses in favor of bolder colors, such as crimson.
Rivini used a lot of intense ice blue in his Fall 2013 collection as well. If an intense red gown isn’t your forte, try pops of color with your shoes or a sash.

Black Details: Vera Wang started the trend with those gorgeous black wedding dresses at her Fall 2012 runway show and black will continue to be popular in weddings this coming year.Bold brides should take a peek at Jenny Lee’s Fall 2013 collection, which had lots of black details. If you’d rather play it safe, try a statement-making black invite or sleek black decor and desserts.

Birch and Other Tree Bark: Rustic weddings have been trendy for a few years now and nature will continue to influence decor in 2013. Birch is a popular pick because it works year round for both summer and winter weddings.

Flower Crowns: Flower crowns were the hair accessory of choice at Claire Pettibone’s most recent runway show and with celebrities like Natalie Portman and Pamela Love embracing the trend on their big day. It’s safe to say these beauties are here to stay.

Gold Gowns: Who says you have to wear white for your walk down the aisle? Gold was a huge fall fashion trend so it’s no surprise it showed up in tons of Fall 2013 bridal collections.THEIA, Badgley Mischka and Leila Hafzi were just a few of the many designers who worked them into their collections.
